She's huge. She looks like she has ostrich legs. What will you name her? Pebbles?
 
My cockerels are 19 weeks old so it's time for me to make my decision and cull down to one from my three. I'd like to get going on the culling, but I can wait if you think any will change a lot. I have too many roosters in my flock, cornish, Buckeye and mixed breed hens and would like to cull to one Buckeye and one Cornish rooster.
Of course the best thing would be to cull all 3, they all have things I dislike (in my mind,only, of course I don't know what I'm doing!|) but these are what I have. Please help me choose. Which one? These are from a line of decent egg layers so I'd like to keep that trait, but I still want them to keep looking (reasonably) like Cornish. None have a pearl eye :-( but they all have good temperament. All have good feet and no other disqualifications that I can see. What other traits should I be looking for?

Rooster 1 has a telescoped comb, a disqualification but he's my broadest rooster and I think the best otherwise.



Rooster 2 is too red. His comb isn't great either.




Rooster 3 is tall and a bit narrow. Nice comb though and well balanced, athletic, and REALLY likes the ladies.

Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated! I'm thinking mostly what the effect of the choice would have on the next generation. My feelings won't be hurt so bring it on! Constructive criticism would be the most useful and a thorough critique would be fabulous!! Thanks.

Based upon what I can tell from the pics, I would use # 2.


EDIT:

You must remember, the pullets will help with color.

#1 would be my second choice. You can work on the combs later. If you are dead set on using the birds you have, I would try to get set up to use both #1 and #2 with different hens, ones that might counter balance what you see as weak and stronger points of each bird.

Wellll after much thinking and consultation with others, and weighing in all the opinions.........the winner is................ None of the above. I'm going to try to get more hatching eggs and hope to get a better rooster. Oh, and that is not my best hen after all. I don't know why it is but I find that picking the hen's good points and faults is more difficult than the rooster's.

Just noticed that my hatchery Dark Cornish rooster ( 5 months old) has was few white wing feathers. One of the pullets does too.

I contacted the hatchery to ask about it,they said that most birds will have off colored feathers until they get adult plumage. What say you one and all?
