Cornish X and tractoring.

What is about the longest you can leave it in one place without killing the grass?

Move it every chance you get- your birds and the lawn will do better. They will also eat their poo if left to sit on it.

Yeah, I agree with Jaku. If you don't move it once a day, it's gross. Gross.

Ya, same here. I move it at least twice a day but in high drought I move them 3-5 times a day. If your only running one batch of chicks / season on the same field you can get away with it. But the higher the concentrate of manure the longer it takes for the grass to come back.

On average I will run 5 batches of 200 on one field in about 3-4 months time frame. After the first batch goes through the second batch doesn't hit that ground until the third week. So if you move it twice a day it will need at least a 3-4 week recovery time. After about the 4-5 batch in a year the grass is at it's max on what it can absorb.

Let the pasture sit for August and September. The pasture (if you had enough water) will be a solid emerald green color, that is of course you don't have streaks from the pens. But after it's rested for a couple of months, if you have cattle or sheep, let them mow down the pasture before winter. I think cows always taste better in the spring and in the fall when the grass is sweet from the cool weather.

I had 80 cornish X in a 8X16 tractor last season. If you miss moving it a day the result is very unpleasant. The last two weeks could stand moving twice a day.
