Cornish X pullet's first egg!

Today one of my 3 CX pullets laid her first egg! Massive white egg, everyone that saw it said it looked like a dino egg. She and her two sisters will be the stars of a breeding project with a red broiler rooster. She is dirty because it's mango season and they spend all day picking apart rotten mangos looking for worms.

Interesting to see what her next egg looks like, that could easily be a double yolker. Also what color, the first eggs aren't always typical though that looks awfully white.

Those first eggs are always fun, aren't they.

Maybe, but who knows? I have gotten brown eggs from hens that should have laid white eggs and white eggs from hens whose eggs should have been brown. Mine were a very pale brown or tan. They were nice big eggs, but I don't remember now whether I got any double yolkers. I did get a triple yolker once but it was not from a Cornish X. It was one BIG egg. I felt sorry for the poor hen that laid it.

Single yolk, and it was chalky white. She didn't lay today.
