Cornish X~ really small

I got 25 meat chicks on May 27. i found one dead last night. Don't know why, either, as it was the same size as the others, and all seemed happy when I checked them before. I knew to exxpect a few losses.

Hopefully you won't lose any more. (and me too for that matter)

I have no idea still what happened. Unlike my other chicks I don't handle these chicks. I think it is so I don't get attached. I only hadle them when cleaning the brooder out and right now that is everyother day. I'm hoping that there won't be any more deaths but I was told that the first week is when most of any deaths you have occur. And I'm not clear of the first week yet. But things are kinda looking up it seems.

fantastic!!!! well if sickness countinues ask your seller and see if they were vaccanated if not go to mcmurray there you can buy vaccanations

I had ordered Cornish x Rock from MMH in February, and only one developed leg problems near "harvesting time". All grew really well. I ordered 25 from Welp Hatchery, got 26 on May 16, and have had 3 up and die on me, one at a time, and 3 more have leg problems already. They're beefier than the ones from MMH - the difference was very noticeable.
Just be sure to give them plenty of room to move, but keep them warm - when they pile up, they flatten the ones on the bottom! Also helpful is removing the food at night. Slows down the growth just a little and allows their legs to keep up with them a little better. Of course, they're raving mad piranhas in the morning!

I'll try the removing food thing. I did notice that they make eachother flat. One of the ones that I lost I found all streched out and flat. Looked really weird. I wasn't expecting that. But I checked about half an hour ago and very one is till doing great. Matbe the worst is behind us now.
