How many years bo they lay well for?
How to sex the adults?

I do not have mine lay year round. Mine only get natural light. If you provide artificial light, they can lay year round. It reduces their lifespan though.

Mine are still going strong. They were born last March. So this is their second summer of laying.

Depends on the quail. We talking standard wildtype coturnix? Blonde chest means boy. Speckled chest means girl.

To sex, look for crowing to find the males. You can also part the feathers down below and have a good peek at the cloca like a bird gynacologist. The ones with white foam are the roos. The larger cloca ones are the hens.

if you wanna get down and dirty, lol, the boys have a "sac" that will bulge and if you hold them firmly, kind of like a baseball, and turn them upside down, you can push on this sac, by with you other hand with your thumb on the sac area, or vent, your forefinger on the top side of their tails, and white foam should come out and there you have a boy.
