Hello,
Cornmeal is used on ponds and lawns to kill fungus. People are even using it for toenail fungus. Why wouldn't this work for sour crop? Can you mix it with grit and give small amount daily for sour crop prevention?

I just lost a young hen to sour crop. Unfortunately, I'm an inexperienced chicken person and did not observe any signs or symptoms of illness until it was too late.

Sour crop is not a fungus. It is a yeast. At least, that's what all my research has shown. That's why apple cider vinegar works...it changes the pH in the crop and it makes it an unwelcome place for the yeast to reside.
