Correct dosage Ivomec Eprinex? SO CONFUSED!

Someone in my flock has worms. I picked up Ivomec Eprinex pour-on for beef and dairy cattle today after reading multiple posts about it. I have the correct syringes as well. Now, confusion sets in!

Please, folks who have used this before, tell me what the correct dose (dropped on the back of the neck) is for standard birds and bantams... please? I have read many different things in previous posts and I am left completely confused and feeling quite muddled.

We have a range of ages represented in our flock of 19 birds. There are several adults (at least a year old), a few "teenage" pullets (maybe 10 or 12 weeks old), and a few at 7 weeks old. Should I only treat the adults at this point an worm tha others later? At what age?

I have used this many times on my birds....

edited to say: that I am not sure what age "not" to use this on. I have only used it on adults. I am sure someone else will come along with that answer.

I used 1/4 cc on my standards, since they were under twenty weeks. I did find that I needed to repeat the treatment 7-10 days later.
I don't know if 7 weeks is too young, but if they're the size of your average bantam and you really think it's necessary, I'd go for the low dosage.

Kinnip, I am not at all sure that my little guys even need to be treated at this point. I just introduced them into the coop but they are still kept seperate from the big birds in their own cage. If I treat all of the adults and large juveniles now, that should reduce the risk to my little ones, I think.

Do you have any feelings about how long I should wait to release the untreated youngsters in with the treated adults? I am imagining that the Eprinex works pretty quickly, so that any worms that are passed should be dead or dying right away. Some of the babies are clearly large enough to be introduced, some are still pretty tiny. I am eager to introduce them when they are big enough.

Will the remaining Eprinex be usable in the spring?

I saw some great tips about this stuff a week or so ago (about pouring a small portion into a GLASS bottle with glass dropper for immediate use, etc.) but I can't seem to locate that thread now, darn it! Thanks to both of you for passing on your experience, it is much appreciated.

Try a search on cocci on this forum and see if you can find the thread and I think on one of mine Speckled Hen wrote some dosages on it but not sure.

I use the same as Barnyard -
1/2cc for standards
1/4cc for bantams

I did all my birds that were 5 months and older. I did not do the younger ones. This my choice. I worm once a year in the fall. Some people worm twice a year.

You treat them once, on the bare skin at the back of the neck, topically. Then two weeks later, you do it again. That's it.
