Corrugated clear plastic roof

Question: if I roof the run/pen with clear hard corrugated plastic roof to keep the rain and snow out of the sand floor do you think this will still let the heat/sunlight in? It is clear after all .... This pic is how it is currently

Oh yes, it lets the sun shine in. I used some of that on my baby coop and found that I needed to shut the heat off when the thermometer hit 70 because the sun was providing plenty of heat. The chicks seemed to like sunning every bit as much as adults do.

I've only used it in spots where it's heavily shaded in the summer months. I've heard mixed reviews on how it holds up with heavy UV exposure but it's lasting very well in seasonal shade on our garage lean-to shed. It's held up to dime-sized hail and a large oak hard masting directly overhead (which sounds a bit like a machine gun on a windy day).

I used suntuff solar gray corrugated, Got it at home depot, it only allows 35 percent of the heat and uv.Cost $31.00 for a 12ft piece. Best thing I ever did to the run, not to hot and nice and dry.

Jetdog- I like your roof. Any general plans for how you did it? I'm starting to research coverings for my run area for protection from rain/snow. I currently have it covered with chicken wire for protection from hawks, but I'm learning that it really needs to be covered to keep the rain/wetness out. Mud/snow = a mess! I'm from MA as well. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I used my 10x10 dog kennel so to span across I used a 4x4x12' then cut small pieces for a little more pitch then 2x6x12' for rafters so it has a 1ft overhang all around to keep the drips out, got it at homedepot went with solar gray corrugated roofing it only allows 35 percent of UV I like it but it was like 35 bucks a sheet for the 12ft ones, I found 12ft galvanized roofing at Lowe's for 21 bucks a sheet if I had trees around I think I would have used the metal just for the durability, the stuff I used is very easy to work with.
