Hi everyone. My chicken, Honey, is suffering from coryza and has been for about a month now. An avian vet prescribed antibiotics which havent worked. I have now switched to a different antibiotic (sulphathiazole) and using colloidal silver eye drops on her. It has been nearly 24 hours and still no change. Im getting desperate. Both her eyes are affected and she cant see a thing. The eye discharge smells awful. She is still wheezing too. However, she continues to lay and she has a great appetite most of the time. But sometimes you can tell she's feeling bad and just wants to sleep. At this point, i dont even know if her eyes are salvagable. She might be completely blind. And I just cant get her to respond to any meds :( what do I do??

Welcome to BYC.
I'm sorry you're going through this with Honey. The foul odor is a good indicator of Coryza. Coryza is contagious to other birds. I hope you have her in quarantine.

Treatment for Coryza is a sulfa drug such as Sulfadimethoxine or Sulfamethazine. The Sulphathiazole is a short acting drug that may not be staying long enough in her system in order to be effective.
Sulfadimethoxine would be best in this instance in combination with Baytril.
Here's where you can purchase Baytril:

Albon aka Sulfadimethoxine would be a better treatment than Sulphathiazole. The Sulfadimethoxine requires a prescription and can be purchased at Valleyvet:
https://www.valleyvet.com/ct_search_results.html?q=albon

Give both Baytril and Sulfadimethoxine at the same time for a period of 5-7 days.
