My sweet 1year old Gold-laced Wyandotte right eye was shot close this morning -no swelling, but after the examination, I was able to pull out some hard, yellow puss from that eye -could this be Coryza? and how do I treat it? I am on the Island of Kauai, can't find a vet :( pretty limited on resources-please help

Do you have pictures? There could be a possibility that she was pecked in the eye, or got an infection from dirt or a foreign material in her eye. Does her eye smell bad? Coryza usually has a bad odor, according to those who have posted about it. MG can also cause swelling in an eye, bubbles, pus, rattly breathing, and congestion. Coryza is best treated with sulfa antibiotics, while MG is treated with tylosin, tetracycline, denagard, or enrofloxacin. Most antibiotics are not available over the counter, but some may be obtained for pigeons or fish online.

Thank you, for your advice. no smell just the hard, yellow puss and swollen eye. she is doing much better today, the eye looked almost perfect this morning. I did put her back with my other hens this morning, she was drinking a lot and went to lay an egg :)
