Cost efficient ways to feed chickens organic layer feed and scraps

Yeah didn't seem right at first when I saw per day the amount of food. My chickens free range in the backyard and I give them egg laying feed I buy a 50 pound bag every three weeks. What I run into the most is that they waste a lot of food by it dropping on the ground but as long as it's hung up I don't have that problem but if it's down on the ground they waste food like crazy. I think you should look at what you have as a feeder in general and that may change the outcome of how much food is either wasted or used.

10 chickens at 1.5 lbs per chicken per week
10x1.5=15lbs divide by 7 days =2.1428571428571428571428571428571 lbs per day rounded up to 2.25 lbs per day
10 chickens at 2 lbs per chicken per week.
10x2=20 lbs divide by 7 days =2.8571428571428571428571428571429 lbs per day rounded up to 3 lbs per day

So many number everywhere... So confusing...
Chickens forage for food all day naturally. You should not feed them meals, instead they need free-choice. Meals are for animals like dogs that make kills to eat and feast on it, not graze or forage all day for food.

Holy cow. I have 6 black sex links, 1 araucan, and 1 unknown [edit: speckled sussex]. Mine share 17oz a day with leftovers at the end of the day. I live in michigan, and even with the door open for free ranging, theres nothing else to eat.
