This will knock your socks off! I was getting my haircut today, and my hairdresser, who knows I have chickens, told me that she went to a nearby farmers' market. She said that local farm eggs were priced at ... drumroll, please .... $10 a dozen! Egad!

Okay, so I'm a couple hours outside NYC. Local fresh egg supply is low, farmstands all closed up. During "season" eggs can cost anywhere between $5-$7 per dozen ... but $10???

Just had to share.

Nearby...where?
Any details on what the eggs were...did they have those buzz words like organic, free range, cage free, non-gmo, soy free???

The best price for your products..... is what people will pay for them.

Small city, approx. 33K. Semi-agricultural area, some wineries, boating, fishing. A lot of 2nd home owners, vacation types, but not now when the weather is hovering 20-something. Crappy shopping. Dinky farmers' market, IMHO. Don't know how they were advertised, and I'm not driving 30 miles scope it out. :) If someone is willing to pay $10/doz ...

I've seen $10 a dozen at my local grocer, and even more expensive ones on top of that. No I didn't buy them. I bought the $8 ones instead (this was last winter).
So glad I saved up eggs this year... probably going to run out before long but so far haven't had to buy any yet this winter!

Egad! I don't have my chickens as a business, so I don't know how much time and money is invested in each egg. Sure, my chickens are priceless, so I guess their eggs are too. <smile>
