Cost of keeping chickens

Can't add much except except for fecal floats, my chickens will most likely not use a vet. We don't even have vets that know chickens around. I am amazed at the price of feed you all quote. Can't get a name brand feed for under $15 here. Luckily I have only made 1 call to a vet for a chicken & that was many years ago.
That's what I'm saying! $10 for a 44lbs bag??? WOW! Anyway, I've started doing my own feed, really because it will be fresher and better for them if I can make sure the protient is good!!

Just at my local feed store. I'm in the UK, and there are about 4 or 5 main poultry feed manufacturers here.

What do you put in your home made feed?

Up in Wisconsin we have 50lb bags for just under $12 a bag. A couple dollars more for the NatureWise brand.

That's farm country though, which is awesome Z it's cheap and probably fresh considering it's a farming state. I've gone to try to make my own for better quality food. Looking to get advice for that. Ratio on ingredients, bc I don't trust all sources on you tube or Google. Think I'll put them all together

Something is wrong with your whole set up if ur spending that much on "feed vet". What in the world is "feed vet"? Oh wait u mean feed and vet..
Ya something ain't right if u have to spend that much.. Man, I wouldn't keep them either. That's more than I make in 3 months.

Yeah, I did put a comma inbetween feed and vets fees!

I didn't mention how much I spend (except on a bag of feed). Maybe you mixed me up with another poster who has like a gazillion chickens and a farm?

Feed here has got more expensive. Maybe 3 or so years ago, it was only around £6 or £7 for the same size bag and had been that price for a long time.

Wheat, whole oats, black oil seed, whole corn, Milo, flax seed and toasted soybean. May add a few more things, like peas instead of the soybean bc the bean has estrogen. I only will use toasted /processed soybean but I'm always looking for info to improve

Yes pr

Yes probably, cuz 7 thousand a month?? Wow

I’m scratching my head wondering where I can get feed for $10 too
Meridian, MS and surrounding areas. $10 for 50lbs of feed. It’s name brand feed too. Purina, Nutrena and the like. I have to go to the feed store and get it myself. I’m already in town because of work. I do realize it costs more to live in different parts of the country. We’re very fortunate that this is not one of those places.
