Okay so...3 seconds after I got my chicks home, I knew I would have to make a bigger brooder...

Following the advice her in the brooder thread....I picked up a large box at Costco with 2 tops.....

One of the bottom for the litter and one on the top

I LOVE MY BOX, MY FREEEEEE BOX!

Gotta love costco. I use their boxes for brooders until the chicks can jump. I also use them for nesting boxes when I have to crate a sick or injured hen, and in the big, outdoor brooder. Fill em with shavings, toss em when poopy. Recycle, reduce, reuse!

Also, an upside down lettuce box is great in the coop when introducing the chicks to the flock. Gives them somewhere to hide when being annoyed by the big kids.

Well you should be fine, since yours has a top. I am much too lazy for that. When mine get jumpy, they go into a dog crate or something.
