I picked up one of my quail today and it appeared to have thrown up...has anyone had this happen? Might it have been out of fear or should I be concerned? Thanks!

how old is your quail? mine did throw up water every once and a while when he was little.
I'm not so sure, though. sorry i don't have any suggestions but just make sure he is eating and drinking normally and he isn't being lethargic..
good luck!!
Is your quail afraid of you? I heard some quails throw up in fear when they get caught. Or it might be a health problem. Watch closely for a while and see if it is stressed out(by your presence, a sudden change in weather, other bullying quails, etc) and remove stress factors if you find them. If not, and your quail keeps throwing up repeatedly and its crop is full in the morning, it might be a sour crop.
If it doesn't occur again, you don't have to think too much of it but if it's a sour crop then yes you have to treat it. In minor cases of impaction feeding a mouthful of coconut oil and massaging the crop can help, and adding a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar in drinking water(like, two or three drops per 100ml) 10 days in a row helped my quail a lot. Those are the treatments that you can try without harmful side effects. Otherwise, with serious case of sour crop, you might have to use medicine to treat germs or yeast. No worries, though. Throwing up is just one time occurrence, most likely.I don't think she's afraid of me but I picked her up when her back was turned to me so I was thinking maybe I scared her. If it is a sour crop how do I treat that? Thanks!
