It's just really cool that such a loud sound can come out of such a tiny bird.

Hi, I have bought four female quails and one larger male, the girls are 4 weeks old now and I will be introducing the male in a few weeks. I think I may have a problem, I think one of the girls is a boy as it makes a loud noise like a male, how can I tell at four weeks old if it is a male, I am worried they will fight if I don't find out and put them together. I will try and record it so you can all have a listen, but it does it at random times.![]()
Thank you, you have been very helpful, I will put them all together, I will keep you in mind if I need any further help. They are not like "chicken" roosters and will not fight like them either. A quail roo fight is more like a squabble than an actual fight. They'll often just bump chests and do this little pecking thing then stop. Like I had said I have over 70 now and they are all together and with a bunch of males. They will almost never fight as long as their "enclosure" is adequate and they have enough space. If you have any other questions either ask on here or just pm me. Hope this helps
lol, ill give it a go, thanksSueeze its bottom for foam. and pretend that the crowing is from some other native bird in the area ... cough...
