Now that my Coturnix have hit six weeks of age, I'm assuming you can get them off the hi-proteins. So what protein do you feed them for their egg production?

mine start on purina startrena
live on purina startrena
their last supper is purina startrena

From hatch to dispatch. Over the years this has led me to the best size birds, the best condition birds, the best egg production rate from my birds. the best longevity from my birds.(had a jb hen that just passed this winter--- almost 9 years old--- DINOQUAIL!---her roo is a 6yrs old english white and goin strong...)

I've used 24% from hatch till I got rid of them (they were a few months old and laying). I've also kept them on 20% this time around, but once they hit laying age, I switched them to 20% layena with calcium. Once the ones in the incubator hatch, they'll be started on 27% and then switched gradually to 20% layer.

I have 1800 lbs of 28% CHS payback left. I would like to keep that for hatching chicks. So was I guess I'll call for a 20 to 24% feed. As far as the calcium is that in the feed or is that something you added? Is there a formula for how much to add if mixed in?

I use Purina Gamebird Layena. I don't mix anything else, as it has 20% protein and sufficient calcium. I don't know what ratio you'd use if you're mixing your own calcium into a starter. How many do you plan on raising, to need to conserve 1.8klbs?! I'd love to see pictures of all of your birds/your set up, if you don't mind!

Right now I have 120 adults we just moved into the pen and brooding 250 chicks. Let me go get the camera......BRB.

Ok I have the 250 coturnix in 8 bins about 32 each and I sell off 130 to get down to 120 before those are moved into the pen as adults. That should do me for chicks for now.
