Coturnix in lockdown, when should I become concerned?

Do it then :D dont they start getting veins at day 6. one had a crack in it but is not oozing an does not smell so i think its just a surface crack. should i pull it out?

I've seen veining as early as day 4 but that was with duck eggs and I really didn't expect it. I'm not sure if quail would be the same but considering their incubation time is about half of ducks I would think so. I've usually seen veining in eggs at least by day 5

you should seal the crack to prevent bacteria from getting in. Either wax or nail polish would work. I happened to have nail polish in easy reach so that's what I've been using.

Always possible. I knew right away when I saw hairline cracks at candling that they were cracks so if you have any doubt... probably not a crack lol I would think that a darker shell would make a crack more obvious because the light illuminates the crack. Hope it was veins!

dont know lol. and i dont have any nail polish here so ill check it in the morning and see if they are more noticeable or not. if its a crack ill try to put wax on it or go to the store and buy nail polish. you know. for the eggs of course

And the bright pink shade would be so you'd have no trouble finding the egg with the crack I'm sure. I'm voting for the nail polish over the wax LOL

Me too. There's a few of them on craigslist in the area right now for about $500, which is really pretty good considering the retail price tag. I'm still stuck on the idea of making my own. If I happen to run across one that would cost less to just buy than to make though I might have to just go for it
