Coturnix quail 7 weeks still no eggs?

Hello my quail are 7 weeks old tomorrow and still no eggs they have artificial light to give them a couple more hours of light they are eating gamebird feed and its like 22% protein its the nutrena stuff. whats the problem? Thanks

How many female quails do you have? And how males? Size of their pen?
Not all coturnix are gonna start laying at 7 weeks. It can take another week or two. And they may not lay at all if something is stressing them

Yeah i got to many roo's i went out a couple days ago and heard some more crowing i re sexed them and sure enough i had more roo's than i origanally thought do you think thats the problem

Look around and see if theres any easy cheap ways to improve their living conditions, happier birds are easier to keep, healthier and grow faster. and are more productive.


But let me warn you, the little eggs the roosters lay taste horrible, the hen eggs are way better...

I got 2 eggs today not even 10 minutes after i got rid of the roo's they were 8 weeks to the day.
