I checked my 2 males that suddenly had 2 eggs in their cage & they have the foam, so they R males. But so weird about finding 2 eggs after I took out the females & cleaned the whole cage B4 putting those 2 males in. The 2 females R alone. & I just got an egg from 1 of the hens. so mine only lay every other day

1 male is blonde , I think that would B a golden another has more brown , but still light. 1 is dark, mayB tuxedo more of the wild coloring & the 4th male is all dark

CAN YOU POST PIX?

ALSO THE FOAM THING... IF THEY'RE ACTIVELY BREEDING THE HENS CAN OR LIKELY WILL HAVE FOAM IN THE VENT FROM THE BREEDING... SO THE FOAM ISNT ALWAYS ACCURATE. 1 THING FOR SURE, IF YOU'RE GETTING EGGS THERE IS A HEN IN THE MIX SOMEWHERE WITHOUT A DOUBT, BECAUSE NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU SMACK THEM, OR HOW NICE YOU ARE TOO THEM ROOS DONT LAY EGGS... SIMPLE FACT OF LIFE

I ran into that problem a while back, so now I sex all of them before I process to make sure. When the hens begin to lay it is so much easier...

The 4 boys have calmed down now that they is in 2 's The girls R so quite . Oh, & I mad scrambled eggs 4 them, the girls love it, the boys R being a tad picky , but they R not happy as they R in a smaller cage 4 now .

Davlyn, saw this in your post then looked closer at your signature. My wife and I live in the seacoast reagion of NH.

Did you go through Fish and Game for your quail permits? I have been looking online at the regs. and they list specific types of quail as needing a permit but coturnix are not listed, I was going to call and ask tomorrow but thought I might ask you now.

I didn't know that permits were needed. The Lady I bought them from , didn't say. she's south of me in NH.
Her name here is 1Chickmagnet or ( chickmagnet1) Janet. She's on the NH chicken swaps, her husband runs it. She may know.
Do U go 2 the swaps ? this past fall was my 1st time.
