Has anyone had problems with scalping? I am pretty sure I have the last of the Mohicans running with my gang and scalping others. Is this from mating or bullying?

We had too many males in close quarters, they needed their own space and hens, none of ours are bald on top now

On the topic of scalping I just bought 10 quail and some of them are missing alot of feathers head neck one is missing half the ones on its back. Is this normal are do I have a problem.

Depending on the males I have seen some that breed hard and the females will have bald spots on the back of the head and bald spots on the saddles. The mate like its a rodeo. Ride hard and only on for a few seconds lol

I moved them around and that worked out. The one male needed some attitude correction. He was just being a bully. I have been keeping 2 males to 4/5 hens. With this setup I have seen better fertility rates of eggs. More competition and the males get the job done

Yep apparently there is always one Roo that wants to play big boss
