Thank you for replying! I think that at some point somebody told me that my rooster is lavender. As for the mother hen I’m not sure what color it is or if it’s a mix of some sort, considering it’s cooler toned than other range/rosettas I’ve owned.With gray quail, there are a few possibilities. The most common is generally silver from the schofield silver collection (SSC). That type of gray is dominant, so one of the parent birds would be showing silver, but it’s easy to miss because silver can combine with any other color, and just alters it a bit. The other possibilities stem from the German pastel collection (GPC). There is blue (Blau) and lavender. I know lavender is recessive, so both parents would carry it, but not necessarily show it. I’m not certain how blue is passed, dominant or recessive. Do you have photos of the parents? Often you can get clues from the parents to help make a better guess.
