Coturnix Quail Fertile Eggs

Hello
I think I'm raising Coturnix quail. If they sleep on the ground, wouldn't it make it easy pickings for some animal. I'm worried a possum would get through the wire and have a late dinner but at the same time I trust the hardware fabric. Is there anything that might be better or stronger to protect it from animals.

Thanks for your interest everyone, i have sent a message with details about the transaction to everyone who has commented in this thread or messaged me. I will be leaving this offer up for anyone interested to reply in this this thread or message me directly. Thanks everyone!

Hello!

Google “chicken wire” and “hailscreen” for prices.

Hailscreen is what we raise them on, but i think you could build a cage out of it then bury the bottom so stuff couldn’t dig its way in. Honestly we use hailscreen for them to walk on and chicken wire for the rest of the cage. You could probably just build the frame out of 2x4’s wrap it in chicken wire and bury the bottom for about as cheap as it gets.

Our quail habitat is similar to a rabbit hutch as it is off the ground with wire for their poop to fall through. We have it built in such a fashion that you can have levels in one structure that house different groups of quail. We put a tin roof over the heads of the ones on the lower levels. We also have a house with a light attached for each group of them to nest or get away from the elements in.

I don’t have any experience raising them on the ground but i imagine if you have a lot of predators that you’re worried are going to dig under you cage and make it through chicken wire, you are going to need barb wire or electric wire even. I have heard some people say they are more likely to hatch their own eggs if you keep them on the ground, but most people will tell you they don’t have that instinct anymore.

They grow so fast! Its a great feeling when they start laying and you can incubate their eggs! Thanks for your interest!

Fertile Coturnix Quail Eggs, 3 dollars for one dozen 5 dollars for two, you pay shipping. Payment through paypal. Shipped from Ellis Kansas. Message me on here to schedule. Thanks for your time!
Just wondering if these are still available and if you have an idea on shipping costs?

Would you happen to have or know of a bobwhite supplier?
Sorry for the delay, I don't have the facilities to raise bob whites so I can't recommend anyone in particular. I would search ebay for fertile bob white eggs, and i would sort by shipping distance. Its worth it to pay more if it means they wont need to be shipped as far. Shipping distance will affect fertility. If you're raising them to hunt you want to read up on how you have to raise them so they will flush properly. Best of luck, id love to hear how it goes!
