Interesting, The highest gauge hardware cloth I can find is only 19 gauge the 1" x 1/2" is 16 gauge won't that be stronger for the exposed front ?

It isn't all about strength. Raccoons can reach through 1/2x1 wire and pull their legs down. It will work if you wrap your sides very good with wire.

I was going to say to keep a close eye on this pen cause some males do not play well with others and some hens are meaner then the cock birds, the mean hens want the man all for them selves

Yes, a coturnix hen "SMACK DOWN" can happen at any time. Welcome to raising coturnix boys and girls!

Just remember...if he/she has one good eye, and can see how to eat....They are keepers!

Thanks Guys for all the help. I was planning on having the egg laying pen just hens no males is that going to work? I have alot to learn about corturnix.
