DONT FEEL BAD TOOK ME FOREVER TO GET IT DONE

There is supposed to be a new waiting period before new members can post pics to make sure they are a legit member first becuase of problems with spammers a while back. It usually takes a few days after the member joining and participating for the system to give them the OK to post pics.

Acu - Rite 00590W. It's old and left over from a long time ago. Outside unit got lost. I use it only for a base line and try to just keep the chicks spread out evenly.

Hi! I'm interested in starting up with coturnix quail in Kingston NY. How soon do you think they'll be safe outside at night? I'd be starting with adults, I think, so that they'll be laying ASAP. My primary purpose for them is eggs, though I do hope to have meat birds eventually. My SIL has an incubator for me and I'll be hatching eggs myself as well. Also, should I just process all the adults when the weather starts getting cold or can I keep them outside as the weather gets colder? Can I insulate the hutches somehow to overwinter?

Thank you!
Sandra

They will be fine outside as long as they are away from drafts and don't get wet. To keep them warm just give them a place to get out of the wind and rain with water. Water is very important for them to have if it is really cold. There are many of us on here that sell eggs, check the other poultry auction section for eggs.

You can keep them outside as long as they are dry and there is no drafts. There are a lot of good sellers on here, and I have had great hatches with them.
