Coturnix Quail

I just ordered 12 jumbo brown, and 12 Texas A&M's eggs. How long do these birds live? And I have a two pens each are 2'x 2' how many quail can I put in each pen.

Well some people here have had quail live for around 9 years I think.But I think thats if you dont add supplemental lighting so you dont have them produce too many eggs wearing them down.A 2' x 2' cage will hold around 4 birds they need about 1 sq ft of space each.Make sure to include a lil sandbox in there ive heard they love to dustbath.

I do not plan on putting a light on them in the winter as they will be outside birds. I heard that ratio males/hens 1:2 or 1:3, put would two pairs work without fighting?
