Could a poisonous snake kill an adult chicken?

Very few snakes are actually poisonous, meaning they could only hurt you if you were to eat the snake.
Venom is injected, via fangs with snakes. There are also rear fanged venomous snakes (only three in North America), meaning they would have to chew the venom into you, such as the Hognose snake (which are completely harmless to humans and often play dead).

Dogs are not immune to venomous nor poisonous snakes, though wether or not it would do any harm depends on the species of snake. Same gos for chickens.

Around here, we have 6 species of venomous snakes. 3 rattle snakes, Water Moccasins, Coral snakes, and Copperheads. Most snakes are more scared of us than we are of them, and they'll often stay as far away as possible. They really aren't "aggressive" like many think, and the last thing they would do is bite, with ther first instinct being to get away.

Just learn how to identify them based of their pattern, body shape, and environment. Some have certain characteristics, such as body language which can help as well. And remember, their pupils is not an accurate way of telling if they are venomous. Vertical pupils just means they are nocturnal.

A regular sized adult chicken will likely too large for the more common snakes. Though you may have to watch out for chicks or even young pullets.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about venomous snakes, and certainly not poisonous snakes.
