Could a Pregnancy test ever be wrong?

Many years ago when I was a nursing student a very frightened woman came into the ER with severe abdominal pain. She had severe abdominal pain all right. The "pain" weighed seven pounds three ounces. The woman was stunned. She had no idea she was pregnant. She had been married for over 20 years, had never used any form of birth control, and had been told several times that she could never become pregnant. So the thought of pregnancy never entered her head. She was in her 40's, so when she stopped having periods she thought it was early menopause. She was a large woman. Not fat, but big framed and wide and deep in the pelvis, so the pregnancy didn't show much if at all. She just thought she had gained a few pounds. When the baby moved, she thought it was gas. When I took care of her she was still in a state of shock. She was not prepared for a baby and by then all her friends had given away their baby stuff. The saving grace was that back then mothers and babies stayed in the hospital for about a week, so hubby had a chance to round up some supplies. I have thought about that woman a lot over the years. I would have really liked to have been a fly on the wall when she called her husband and work and said, "Hello Dear. Guess what I did today?"

Also... I knew a woman who went into the doctor to schedule to have what she thought was cancer removed from her female parts.

She was 50 at the time, Doctor came back in and said, you don't have cancer, you are having twins. Both healthy boys and now both of them are my age. Their mother passed when they were in their 30s.

awww....

My dad passed at 64 when I was 27. Would have liked to have him around longer but it is what it is. Wonderful memories left to cherish.

I've had 3 different blood tests within the past two years that said I was pregnant. I was not. After further tests (and thinking I must have a tumor in my brain near the pituatary sp? gland), they still don't know why. Blood tests are NEVER supposed to be wrong... BTW, the blood tests weren't because I thought I was pregnant. They were for full panel physicals and once when I was really sick with a virus.

I am sure you know that they are not really "tied". The are cauterized.

I didn't have mine tied.....I had rings put on and they were suppose to sever the tubes..... It has been 5 years.....

I dont see anything wrong with telling someone you're pregnant or waiting the 12 weeks. Waiting on a miscarriage just doesnt' seem right to me. I told the world and am happy I did
