Could a Pregnancy test ever be wrong?

I dont see anything wrong with telling someone you're pregnant or waiting the 12 weeks. Waiting on a miscarriage just doesnt' seem right to me. I told the world and am happy I did

And you'll be a good mommy too!

But i think that she was advising waiting to tell because of the serious fertility issues my friend has... Sometimes it easier to take a loss in private...if everyone dosent know. Thats my take on it anyways..

I completley understand that but you wouldnt believe how many people are suprised I announced it so early on. But then again what they don't realize is is not many people learn they are pregnant this early on lol...and there was no way I was keeping it a secret!!! hehe. I wasnt offended by it either, I just think that if she's happy she's pregnant and the doc says "yep you are!" then by all means if she wants to she should announce it. I hear of many times women who were told they could never get pregnant pop out more kiddos than people who normally can have kids lol.

Also for the people who are saying that they took a test and it was positive, there is the chance that women who took a test and had a positive, and then later had a period actually had a chemical miscarriage which is basically a VERY early stage miscarriage an embryo that didn't attach properly or not at all.

I read hteres only two ways to get HCG on a test.

1. you're pregnant
2. you're taking medications that have HCG in it otherwise from what i read there is not a way to detect it

I just thought you'd enjoy this little story.

When my brother had his accident with the ATV, a nurse came into the room. She said she was one of my brother's friends and that she'd be coming in later around 3PM.

She had a baby a week ago. She did NOT look pregnant. She didn't know she was pregnant, everything was still "normal" and she gained almost no weight.

The baby weight around 6 lbs. How the HECK does that happen?!

She went into the ER complaining of issues with her gallbladder (she'd had surgery a bit ago) and out pops a baby. She's 19...freakin' nuts.

didn't she have a blood test before surgery? hhhmmm.
as for the pregnancies test.....they have never once lied to me!!!!!! (hence 3 kids) My husband and i did not anouce our pregnancies untill we were past the 3 months mark...although a woman can lose a baby at any time of the pregnancy....we had a friend who was to weeks away from her due date....havey smoker..under weight baby wrap it's umbilicle cord in to a knot and died. i guess enough said.

Tell her congrats and that Dr.'s can be WRONG!

If she feels up to telling people it is her choice. I would tell everyone when I was pregnant right away until I lost one..... After you go through the difficult and painful experience of telling people you are not having a baby you do not want to repeat it.... I've had 3 losses (one was twins) and going through that experience multiple times is not a picnic, so the less people that know is sometimes better.

You are getting very good information here Redhen. The tests that are available now pick up the slightest amounts of HCG, therefore they can determine pregnancy before missed cycles.

What a surprise for your friend! A Springtime baby!

She'd had the surgery a year ago. Not 9 months before...

I told her she should be on that show! I would have probably walked out of the ER going for a second opinion...CRAZY!
