Most pond owners consider crawdads a nuisance. They dig very deep burrows that can weaken earth dams. Feeder goldfish likewise are a nuisance - prolific and filthy. If you have a nice farm pond, stock it with a balanced mix of bluegill and bass, maybe consult your state fish & game folks. In KY and many other states they will provide a free consultation to landowners on things like pond management and wildlife habitat. The fish truck folks will ALWAYS recommend overstocking, for obvious reasons.

But if your pond is a plastic or rubber bucket in the bird pen, by all means give 'em treats!

Omg,sorry i just reread my post and i made it sound like i own a huge 4 acre pond when i say pond i mean a a kiddie pool dug in the ground and made to look natural i mean put small goldfish and crawdads in that as a treat for them to pass time not a huge pond to stock full of fish and such, that is the stuff in my dreams........

Just a side-note to those who might want to "stock" their ponds/lake (not just provide the ducks with some fun in a small pool like the OP): Beware of putting bass or anything with a big mouth in your pond if you breed ducks. Bass eat the ducklings at the lake I go to the most.
