Had to get myself a new login because somehow I messed HeatherLynn up. How sure are we on that gender thing. Still no eggs. Still have plenty of sunlight but considering turning on a light inside the coop at night since I had heard that light stimulates them to lay. We are taking freeloading to all new heights right now.

Are you sure they aren't secretly laying somewhere? Or perhaps a snake or other critter is getting the eggs first?

I have raised two batches of EEs and have yet to have the patience to keep the around long enough to have an egg. I guess they just mature slower or something. Last year, I had 22 EEs and NO eggs. This year, I went with RIRs and BRs. Seven eggs yesterday!

I'm sure they are all girls too... except for the Barred Rock, thats a roo.

My chickens are all a little late to lay. The Ameraucanas and silkies are the latest! GRRR I have one Am and silies that are laying and several silkies and an AM that are closing in on 8 months old and still arent laying!
Talk about free loaders.

I really had this lovely vision of blowing my eggs out for omelets and such and then painting the pretty blue and green shells. Its driving me nuts.
