could i keep 1 duck and two drakes

right now i have 1 muscovy duck who lives with my goose and chickens. they duck thinks the goose is a duck too and they are friends so she's not lonely but one day i would want to get some more ducks for her. if i got more from a hatchery the minimum would be two and i cant have a female because of noise (except for my muscovy). would two drakes fight if their was only one hen? if yes then i would try to buy 1 drake from a local farm. so if i had a drake and a duck living with chickens would the drake also try to mate the chickens or only his duck?

I have two drakes, and only one hen right now, and

so far so good. The males do not fight at all right now. The only thing I have to watch, is how they are with HER. She had some missing feathers on her neck from the boys, so I have to be watchful.

I would say that it depends on your ducks. You would have to keep a close eye on them to ensure they did not rough her up too much, or she could get overwhelmed.

Likely the males will become competitive and over-breed the female, which can result in damage and even death. Any chance you can try some quieter duck breeds to add females on top of what you already have?

I have known drakes who have shared the same duck for a mate, and are pretty good about it. It seems to me that drakes hardly ever mate with their own mates anyway, but I guess that they do more often when their are no other females to be had. Two of my drakes right now share a duck, and they almost always mate with my other girls instead. They are pretty devoted to their mate, though.

Why not get two more Muscovies? Muscovies do not quack except when startled, and even then it's once or twice... pretty rare. They are the quietest animals besides rabbits that I have on my farm.

I do believe if you got two drakes and one hen, that it may not go over well. I've seen a LOT of overbred hen ducks and I would NOT want to be that hen, that's for sure. They may not be trying to hurt her, and the drakes may not fight each other... but It's not an ideal situation for that hen.

Depends on the breed, but I think if they do not fight, two drakes uh 'hammering' one girl might be a bit much for her

i thought the answer would be no i just wanted to check. i would get another muscovy but their is only one farm i know of near me that will hatch and sell them. i cant get any muscovies at a hatchery because of the muscovy law and the farm only has them once a year. guess i will just wait till next spring to get more muscovy ducks
