I incubated eggs last month and one chick hatched. Yesterday, I had a hen go broody and is sitting on a nest with one egg. Could I give her a thriving chick to raise in hopes of her jumping off her nest to raise it? My concern with her hatching is that we will be out of town for a week during Thanksgiving and if she has a chick hatching out around that time, we won't ber here to make sure they are okay.
Also, she is in our barn in one of our unused horse stalls. We have had frost every morning this past week. Should I put her in a crate and under a heat lamp?
Thank you for your time and help!
