4 weeks ago we bought 14 Straight Run chicks from Southern States in Virginia...4 BO, 4 SS and 6 EE. Paid $1.90 each.

As of today, there isnt a cockerel in the bunch. These things just dont happen...at least not to me

So either the Chicken God was looking down on me and guiding my hand as I plucked them out of the bin or Southern States made a huge Boo Boo!!

What do you think?

Ah heck....lets make it a poll... lol

You are definitely blessed by the Chicken Gods. I got an accidental roo in my "pullet" purchase at the feed store, one of my "pullet" bantam cochins from a BREEDER is turning into a roo. I have gingerly and hopefully purchased two Silver Sebright chicks from a straight run bin and am still waiting to see how lucky or unlucky I have been in that purchase.

I did luck out when buying two straight run Cayuga ducklings - ended up with a pair! Wahoo!

But you are supremely blessed. Congrats!

I think the Hatchery made a boo boo.. They must have sent the wrong package to the feed store.. I sure would hate to be the person or place that got the real order of straight run. Which usually is mostly roosters..

You just know how to pick them!

I've lucked out too: out of the 7 pullets I purchased all are actually pullets. Then I purchased 3 straight run EE and 3 straight run leghorns hoping for at least one pullet from each breed and it looks like I ended up with only 1 EE roo and 1 leghorn roo. Not bad at all!
