Could it be Cocci? 5 week old chicks puffed up seem sleepy Need Help!

Everyone is doing great here except 2 Buff Orps. They are still puffed up. They are active but I never see them drink water so Everyday I dip their beeks in the water. I hope they pull thru. I made everyone some yogurt mash this afternoon and everyone is chowing down, well except the two Buffs.

I got some Sulmet today for the 2 buffs from a local feed store. Stumbled upon it. They sold like 5 different items for chickens so it was pure luck. TSC doesnt sell it. Hope I can bring these Buff Orps back around. Should I wait a day or two between the Corid and the Sulmet?

well, on one hand I'm glad to have seen this thread, given that one (out of 5 or so) of my beautiful Silkie chicks is on death's door. Hate that so many of us are going through this though. I only saw blood in the stool one day, then not again- which seems odd to me. I have not been able to find a store with Corid or Sulmet yet, tomorrow the plan is to search all the feed stores anywhere near us. I think we'll be too late for poor little Puff in the sick cage. She's stretched out on her side and can't even swallow. I hate this so much.

Unfortunately, our TSC only sells it in pill form, in an enormous bottle that costs $64. I love my chickens, but times are tough and I just don't have that kind of money for chickens between paychecks. I know, I'm a cruddy chicken mom, but I have to be realistic. Hopefully I'll find a store with smaller bottles or powdered Sulmet, or the Corid. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Yes they do. You cant really ask them if they ahve Corid because 99% of the people who work at TSC dont know anything about farm animals or meds for that matter. Its in the cattle dept with the cattle meds. Its the same kind I use. Its powder in a bag. 20%. I use 1-2 teaspoons per gallon.
