could it help or hurt my chickens and ducks by giving dog food

i'm not saying cats can't eat dog food, just saying that my cat had a urinary obstruction and the vet said it was probably due to the higher phosphates in dog food.

my dad was a farmer by trade, and we always had cats. plenty of untamed, but averaged 10 or so that we "knew" and we were able to keep track of. the cat food was on one end of the creep feeder, the dog food was on the other. usually, the dogs ate the cat food and the cats ate the dog food. we never had any problems (at least none that we knew of; a cat would disappear from time to time.

i think people make raising chickens too complicated. our chicken feed has always been our hog feed (ground corn and protein). never had any problems, never had chickens laying poorly, etc. we never worried about what they were eating or weren't eating. they know how to take care of themselves, we're just making sure they have food and water.

My duck and chickens will try to get into the house any time they can to steal dog food. When I take cat kibble out to the yard cat's feeding station (it's up high so the dogs don't get it), I stop along the way to let my Cayuga ducks take a bill full of it for a treat.

Dang, and I'm upset when my chickens come up to my front gardens and dig up my mulch! If they got into my house and started scratching and throwing stuff around I'd be fit to be tied!

I have a chicken that chased the cat off so that it could get to the cat food and now it will not eat the chicken food but waits until I feed the cat and then come over and gets what it wants. I it a riot to watch the cat back off and let the chicken have what it wants.

My mom had a chicken who only ate dog food. She was only one chicken and my mom didn't bother with buying separate food for her. She lived a long healthy life
