Could my 2 month old chick be laying already?

I have 8 cross-breed 1-1/2 year old layers and a rooster. We just recently got a new chick (Production Red) who we've introduced to our flock at 10 weeks old. (We had another who unfortunately died when she was only a few weeks old) She's been staying in the coop with them the last few days. I was gathering eggs today and found an extremely small egg, darker brown than the others. Could the chick have layed this, or is it just an odd egg from one of my other girls? I've never seen anything quite like this one before and thought that chicks don't typically start laying until 5-6 months? I'll post a picture of one of our average eggs to compare to the smaller one. Thanks in advance for your answers!

I think it's just an odd egg from one of your layers. We've gotten one just like that a few weeks ago.

At 10 weeks of age I hardly think so. Like CrazyChickGirl said it's probably an 'egg oddity' laid by one of your other gals.

So strange! I've had some really large (double yolk) eggs and some slightly smaller eggs, but nothing I've questioned too much. This one threw me for a loop! Very interesting :) Thanks for your reply.

Do you suppose it'd still be edible? Other than being really small, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it. But asking just to be on the safe side!
