I went to the feed store for supplies today, and I knew I was in trouble when I walked in the door. As soon as I was in, I could hear the chirping. I looked over at DH and he just stared back at me. I went over to the box that was full of chirping little fuzzy butts. We stared at them for a minute and Dh said...."well, we could get 4 to replace the ones that did not hatch..." I looked at him in disbelief.

He then suggested we get the "aracuna/americauna/EE's that were in there. So we picked out four cuties. Then the lady who worked at the store then said that we had to buy 5, which was the minimum. I looked at DH and he just reached in and picked up one more. So now we are up to 13 chicks, 5 juvies that are about 4 weeks old, 1 broody who is sitting on 8 eggs, two that are 3 and 4 mos old, as well as 9 other adults. Talk about chicken math!!!

I am apparently suffering from chicken math too. Went to one feed store because I knew they were getting in Silver and Golden Laced Wyandottes today...so I got 5 of each of those. Then went to TSC for feed and saw an unmarked bin(that the employees insisted were the featured breed of Hamburgs) that looked like Ameraucanas so I took home the required minimum 6 chicks. So, 16 new chicks today. I also have 10 laying hens, 1 rooster, 10 more ~1 month old chicks, and about 26 eggs in the incubator due to hatch next weekend. Yikes!

Today at TSC they had just gotten in a shipment of bantams. There were some really nice EE and Silkies among the mix. I grabbed my birdseed and TOTW and got the heck out of there.

ours got in red puttnams, and those CHIPMUNK chickens (first time ive ever seem them) and I want them so bad, but alas, I think I need to wait till the first batch is out of the brooder.

I had to send my daughter out for for chicken/duck feed today because I knew if I went I would come home with more babies. I'm TRYING to control myself this year, but the urge to multiply the flock never stops.

I went to tsp for feed and bedding and came hone with 2 silkies I was so happy I've stalking tsc for weeks waiting for them

Mine are a week old now.
TSC near me gets the chicks in every Wednesday and they sell out fast. So as long as I avoid Wednesday through Spring I will be safe from any further moments of weakness.

I went to TSC yesterday. They had chicks. I had to walk away cause I only have 2 brooders and they are being used. Also I already have 32 chickens. So I had to talk myself out of them. I did not want to go Dh made me go with him. They were adorable though. But no where to quarrintine them.
