Could This Hen Be Ready To Lay Her First Egg?

Nest making was my first hint -- my first egg arrived within a week of my finding the nest box straw all rearranged. But I got my first egg in the corner of the hen house, from a RIR I think. At least there was a RIR feather stuck in the straw near the egg! I never actually saw who did it, then pretty soon they were all laying.

17 weeks is a bit on the young side, but not unheard!

Good luck! My chickens have been laying for 8 months and it's still exciting to collect eggs.

Yay! That means the egg fairy may be visiting me soon too.

I have one RIR and one Black Sex Link with really red ears, wattles and combs (no they are not roos). They are only 13 weeks now, but maybe I'll get lucky and they will be early layers.
