Just get in the habit of checking the date at the top before you invest your time reading it. I like revisiting some of the old threads.

Because there is nothing in the title that states how old the thread is... so I don't know before clicking on it... and most of the time I don't see that teeeeeny tiny date stamp (it's tiny!) above the posters usernames until I am well into a thread!

I think it bothers a lot of people from comments I have seen.... and it's more about topics from the past with current info in it about people that is brought up by someone never involved in the thread in the first place. For example - "Sussies Hubby lost his job!" Makes me think "Oh poor Sussie!" and then I get to the very end where I see the date and the person who brought the thread back to life was not involved in the first place and just wants to bring up the issue of loosing jobs or somesuch.... w/e it's just an example.

So thats why it bothers me. Of course I search for old threads too when I want to know something... but I don't post at the end of them because I know it confuses people! If I want to talk about the issue from there, I start a new thread and include relevant info I learned from the old one... "I heard here that...".

Eta: Double posting does not count for old threads. The double posting rule is about having two threads about the same thing going at the same time

Why does that bother you? Some old threads have great information and I am often delighted to see them. I may have missed them the first time 'round.

If you don't like them ..... just move on.

X2.

Plus, the "tell me one good thing that happened to you today" thread was recently revived and it continually makes my day. Not a bad thing at all.

x3 I love old threads! Makes good reading on a cold day!

I kind of love to see old threads pop back up. Say I was following the *hypothetical* thread about Susies hubby losing his job. I would be suscribed to it, so I would get the notice when 6 months later Susies hubby lands his dream job and they live happily ever after. BUT... if Susie just starts a new thread about how things are great now, I may miss it.

Unless the only places you frequent are the Random Rambling section, the Wanted ads, and the Auctions. . . . . I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

I think most of the chicken-related info out there is still the same.

Well I would rather read a two-year old thread that has a topic I am currently interested in that has info from beginning to end of the problem than read 20 threads asking the same thing and never hearing more than 1 day's worth of info.

I get waaaay more info off old long threads than newer ones. And, if I can't remember a specific bit of info and can't find the thread again, I can ask in a new thread for a memory refresher.

I have learned to check the date before I post to it though! If I don't, I end up feeling stupid.
