Wouldn't the black parent have to be carrying the lavender gene for that to be the case?

Which leads me to add that you probably would/could get lavenders out of the next generation, when even the blacks WOULD be carrying the lavender gene....right?

Your black would have to be carrying the lavender gene. Lavender X black gives you a visual black with one copy of the lavender gene.

Then if you breed the black with one copy of the lavender gene to a lavender would it be 50%black and 50% lavender?

If you want to get birds from John, you'd better do it now. He told me his order list is filling up fast for 2009 as everyone wants lavenders.

Should you miss out on John's birds, I can probably help you out since my bantams are almost all from him. I don't want to take business away from him if that is where you plan to get them.

How far away do you think you are from us we live in lansdale/hatfield which is 30 minutes from quakertown.

I will try and do it this month actually it would be my 4h leader and another member. My 4h leader actually got 25 or more free bantam ameraucanas from him for the know your breed project so I will try. Sara do you have some lavender ameraucana chick pictures and if you do could you post them?
