Aoxa, ikwym about yellow chicks. One of new chicks is yellow w/narrow black stripes. She'd popping out wing feathers that look atm like they're speckled or mille fleur. No clue what that one is, I'm calling her a yellow legged, beardless EE until she feathers out, and maybe even forever after that. ;) And one of my spring pullets was solid, pale, "looks like a white rock" yellow. She is now the largest brassy red pullet with red and black tail I've eve seen. They're almost 17 weeks now, and she's one that I wouldn't allow the kids to name until I was sure she really was a pullet. She's not showing any physical secondary male characteristics, but her behaviour is so cocky. She's got brow ridges sort of like a Cornish and those really enhance her stink eye. :p

Sorry, babbling. Anyway my point is I agree - yellow chicks can turn into so many different things.

Yep! My Red Sex Links were all yellow :)

Solid yellow coloured chicks are hard to determine breed unless you narrow it down to the possibilities on what that hatchery carries, and even then you have to wait a bit to see what they look like at 4 weeks.

I just loaded fifty plus pictures onto my profile....lol I can't believe how many shots I took in just a few minutes

I'm sorry, I just noticed your having a bad day...hope it gets better.
Thanks. Been fighting sick and injured chicks and an injured turkey. All my years of experience and things are popping up that I have never dealt with before....

Hoping today is better. I am so excited for you the chicks look so adorable. I think I will spend the day with my chicks today and get some photos of their pretty wings and tails that are growing..

Sorry to hear about the one that was flattened :( One is pretty normal. I lose usually one a hatch. This last one I lost way too many and was very upset about it. I think the total was 6. They kept flipping over under the heat lamp and either overheating or being trampled. I would love an ecoglow. Second best option to mama hen!

Honestly this morning has made me really happy with the ecoglow, the chicks really are cute as they run from underneath it to get food and water. I noticed some of them just kind of chill right at the edge, like they don't need much heat but just a little. Reminds me of my husband when we sleeps with one leg under the covers and one leg sticking out...they seem really quiet and happy under there...they get louder when they come out for food and water. I was surprised by how tiny they are, I. Kept thinking they needed more space. The box they came in is outside but they could have fit triple the amounting there almost. The DOA will be buried later today. I feel sad that she died for me :( but I hope she didn't suffer or have any disease etc.

So far I've learned :
1. chicks poop a lot...I keep changing the towels lol didn't want to interrupt the eating so. I placed a towel over a poop.
2. Chicks are better than tv....I have done nothing but feed my daughter and watch chicks today.
3. I wish the ecoglow was clear
