That was the deciding factor in all of my choices for ordering chicks this year. I am hoping that Jack will continue to breed for a few more years, as he is a fine roo, and produces some lovely chicks. My egg basket is about 50% brown, and 50% green/aqua/blue/olive. I am adding in Buck Eye, hoping that I can keep a cockrel to join Jack in the rooster duties. Buck Eyes would sell very well here in Maine, with their pea comb. Temperament will be the deciding factor on the BE. If they bear any of the b**chy temperament of the RIR, they will be weeded out quickly.
There is one gal here in Maine who I think is breeding Doms this spring. So, I'm hoping her flock does well, and her gene pool is strong. Down the road, it might be nice to pick up a Dom roo for a season or two.
