County wants me to remove my ducks

Alright, so I managed to speak with the officer today, she just told me that I need to call the department of zoning and apply for a zoning clearance for a non-traditional pet. I left them a message and am now awaiting a call back, I looked at the county laws regarding non-traditional pets and it seems that I likely will have to build them a completely enclosed predator proof area, which is good because I was planning on that anyway, and I might have to get rid of my really nice big coop depending on if I am able to get a permit for that. Also I found out that the inspection wasn't because anyone complained about the ducks, it was actually scheduled by my mom because of an incident with her running over a pole at the end of my neighbors driveway that the neighbor wanted her to pay for even though it was an illegal pole.

Hopefully this all ends up working out, it would really suck to have to get rid of my nice big coop considering it cost like $800 to build, and it is so heavy and sturdy the only way to get it out of my yard would be to completely destroy it with a chainsaw.
Sorry to hear of your unfortunate situation. :( Worst case scenario, post your coop on CL for sale. If it is not in too difficult of a spot to get at, it can easily be jacked up and slid onto a trailer and moved, then it's not a total loss. Best of luck. :)

Oh it is in too difficult a spot, and it's too big to move through any of my fence gates. I suppose technically it could maybe fit through my back fence gate but there are a bunch of trees behind the fence that would block it, and it is so heavy I don't know if it would even be possible to move with 10 guys.

Sorry to go off topic but being in Florida that duck house needs alot of ventilation.

Hopefully you will be able to keep it and your babies. But please put some windows in there for fresh air.
There is ventilation where I have arrows to. It is around the entire coop at rhe bottom, across the front of the coop under that 2x4, and across the entire top in the back. I'm pretty sure they have solid ventilation, I've been in there while it is very very hot out and it's never too bad. I keep a water dish in there and the water never gets warmer than room temperature.

I really hope this all works out for you. It's terrible that any town differentiates between "traditional" and "nontraditional" pets, especially in this day and age. All kinds of animals (I even saw a posting on another platform about a pet prairie dog) are pets nowadays. What makes some acceptable and others not?

I'm happy they are going to work with you and glad you get to keep your ducks but I do hope you add a window or two to that coop. Storage sheds only need air vents but housing for livestock require windows for light,12 sq inches per bird ventilation and good air circulation.

Alright, I didn't want to update this until it was all done but now it is. After months, hundreds of dollars, and an absurd amount of stressing, and several doctors notes I was finally approved to keep the ducks.
The process involved a lot of money and a lot of time just waiting, but basically I had a court hearing on Monday, talked to a council of 7 old men, and today after months of stressing I finally got a letter in the mail saying I am approved. I am so happy to have this over with, I haven't been so active on this forum lately because I have just been so stressed and not been myself because of it for the past few months.
Thank you everyone for your kind wishes I am ecstatic to finally be done with this.
