We have 5 young chicks that we have become the home for from my youngest's kindergarten's class. All is going well but now I am on the hunt for a suitable coup that will keep the chicks safe and warm during our New England Weather.

You can make a decent chicken coop out of just about anything and with a little imagination it can be a piece of art. Whatever you do, don't waste your $$ on those prefab chicken coops that look so cute at TSC. They are too small, underbuilt, not predator proof and you will be replacing it before winter.

Welcome to BYC!

Congrats on the new chicks! Yes, definitely stop by our coop pages for help with ideas. Lots of these coops have easy to follow plans and are not hard to build. Have you stopped by our learning center yet? Lots of great articles on all the aspects of keeping poultry....

Enjoy this new adventure you are on and welcome to our flock!
