And do I need to build nest box, or can I just put a bowl and some bedding? Sorry I'm really new to pigeons still and most websites don't give enough info. Thank you!!

@KiwiandPeachthePigeons My tablet still broke so I'll be brief now. Keep them in for a while yet as you just got them ... They need to get their bearings. A nest box would be good to place the bowl in to protect babies from drafts.

I would not start loft flying the 2 that you have at this time. The way to do this is as follows.
Have your pigeons raise 3 to 4 clutches of young.
Trap train the young to return to loft. Start at about 4 weeks of age. Let them out hungry within sight of mom and dad. (mom and dad inside loft).
Once you have all (6 to 8) your young trap trained and returning home, then you release one parent with the children to loft fly.
If that one successfully returns, then next day release the other parent while keeping mate in loft. If that one returns, than it is somewhat safe to consider the parents HOMESET.
Never free-fly/ release a pigeon you cant risk loosing.
If you tried to loft fly your pigeons after having them such a short time, I suspect they may not return.

This is perfect advice for homers. The afghan may be a bit easier, especially if they are show types or high flyers. I think we can research a bit more to figure it out, ... or OPmight want to get more info from seller if possible.

I’ll try to get more information on Afghans and maybe contact the seller.

so I just checked, turns out Afghans are high flyers.

I asked the seller, and he said that they also have good homing ability.

They said when they get used to their cage and feel safe in their surroundings I can fly them. Not sure that’s true though???
