Here is our first coop. We wanted something attractive since it will sit about 100 yards from our new home. Always looking for something unique, I asked for a "Covered Bridge Coop" since I live about 1 mile from many of the Bridges of Madison County. The size is 12' x 16'.

Here's the initial base of gravel and skids:

Here's the framing, and my BIL with the trusty nail gun:

Here's a pic with the sheeting begun, and you can start to see the covered bridge shape:

Here's one with all sheeting done, windows/doors not cut out, and my teenagers goofing off:

Here's current progress: most siding put on, windows/doors in:

This is mostly new materials, but a few house-building leftovers incorporated. We haven't cut the pop doors yet, because I'm still deciding on location. There are 6 windows, roof ventilation, and two doors.
My brother in law is a home builder, and my husband built our home. More to come...
Still trying to decide whether we want to match the house colors, or if we want Covered Bridge red.

Very cool looking! Bob would have loved to come live with you. I showed to the our BO rooster, Kramer. He'd like your address.

Thats pretty nice. Me, I'm just a simpleton I guess, so recycled fits my needs just fine. Moneys to hard to come by around here to spend those big bucks if I don't have to. However those fellas did do a bang up job. I'm sure your babies will love it.

Yes, some type of water feature is in the plan for my mallards. The ground in this location is pure clay, so it should hold water well even without a pond liner.

How about a dry creek bed flowing "underneath"?

Underneath? Hmmm, not exactly sure how to ask hubby for that. It would certainly look really cool but something we should have preplanned. I have 7 ducks, so I hope a small 3-5 foot pond will have to suffice.
