Covered Dust Bath

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of updating our chicken coop this year, and we are building an entirely new structure. I hope to add a completely weather proof dust bath area for the pullets. I was thinking some sort of covered porch with dirt at the bottom. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm thinking a sort of four way plastic board boxed in structure, with small vents at the top. Think cold frame, but with some more ventilation. I'm just concerned it would blow away if the wind was hard enough. Any Ideas? It would be connected to the coop, and not in the run. Thanks!

I actually got the idea off of someone here! I was hoping to get a sort of sun and dust bathing effect for them. The winters here can get pretty cold, but the sun shines!

There are some really good articles good articles here in BYC... I wonder if there's one about dust baths. If there isn't hopefully there will be.

Send pictures as you time please, we are going to upgrade our coop this fall/spring. The covered sun room/dust bath area sounds awesome. If we want it yo rain here all I have to do is add to the dust bath and viola it RAINS.
