Covered outside perch - is this okay?

as I see it.. they are already on a perch outside in the draft.. You are going to add walls and a heat source. that is an improvement to what they had and have become used to.. I would not worry about drafts at this time..
 
Condensation when the coop is not greatly warmer than the outdoors means you need more ventilation.

Why not *try* putting them up there for a few days and see what happens? I bet they will get the idea...

I'm afraid it might still get too windy... The actual hovel isn't really covered at the back, as in my drawing. What I'm really afraid of are the nights when it will get stormy and far below freezing.​
