Cows having a swim?

Something about these pics just made my day.(Great pics I might add) Something simple in a herd of happy fat cows enjoying some nice clean water.

I'd say Charolais/Angus/Brangus too.

What ever breed they are they're beef cattle. Very nice quality ones, and love that smokey color.

Cattle just seem to love wallowing around in water. My aunt's cows used to get into a pool made by the creek.

When I get my Water Buffalo, I'm going to make her a nice big wallow to lie around in. Water Buffalo love that.

Love the photos!! These photos could be from 2011 could be from 1899...Nothing better that a herd of cattle in a large lush pasture! Very Nice!

I see mostly Charolais/Black Angus crosses, but also purebred Charolais, Charolais/Brangus crosses, and the black one is a Black Angus. They're beef cows. Their purpose is to keep the pasture mowed down and to each produce a calf each year for the farmer to sell and make a little money.


Earlier today we had to refill the salt/mineral feeder for one of our bulls, "Indy." He thought that we were bringing him his daily grain. Since it's 100F, and he's a big black 2,000 pound animal, he decides that rather than walking around the large pond, he's going to walk THROUGH the pond. And so he did. Except he was SWIMMING by the time he got to the middle, with only his head and neck hump above the water.

And of course I didn't have my camera.

I think if you show cattle for very many years your perception of what is "good" becomes skewed. I see alot of people saying these are really nice cattle. To me, I see cattle that are a little better than average...and just commercial crosses. Nothing you would not find at the local sale barn if you looked hard enough. Guess its just me.

How come everyone always says this when they see good photos.
It's not the camera, its the photographer. As someone who has two photographers in the family I know how irritating it is. imagine you had a photo in an exhibition worth thousands that you've spent years and years learning and perfecting your skills to be able to take this photo. and some bum walks up and says "thats a good photo, i wish i had their camera" you'd be about ready to punch them in the face.
